Our Mission and History

Divine Mercy Sydney Distributors is a lay apostolate. Our mission is to spread the message of Divine Mercy. We have been active in this since the first Divine Mercy conference in Ireland in 1992.

We started under the the assistance and guidance of Fr David Vaughn. Beginning by attending the First Saturday Devotions, first at Annandale and then Concord West for many years. We work in collaboration with John Canavan of Divine Mercy Publications, the representative of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. We continue with Our Lady Mary Mother of Mercy, the Holy Spirit and many others to spread Our Lord’s message of Divine Mercy and Trust.

Over the years we have held several Divine Mercy conferences in Sydney. We have brought out a variety of local and international speakers to speak on God’s Mercy. We also aim to make known God’s mercy through the literature and images of the Divine Mercy. Throughout the years we have only touched the tip of the iceberg. Through these people, however, we can see the affect of God’s Mercy.

Our Lord said to St Faustina:

“…before I come as the just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy.” (Diary 83) … “I am Love and Mercy itself (Diary 1074). My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners… it is for them that the Blood and Water flowed from my Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy (Diary 367). Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet (Diary 699). My mercy is greater than your sins, and those of the entire world (Diary 1485). I let my Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come then with trust to draw graces from this fountain (Diary1485). The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is – trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive (Diary 1578). How much I desire the salvation of souls! My dearest secretary, write that I want to pour out My divine life into human souls and sanctify them, if only they are willing to accept My grace. The greatest sinners would achieve great sanctity, if only they would trust in My mercy. The very inner depths of My being are filled to overflowing with mercy, and it is being poured out upon all I have created (Diary 1784).

We pray that in some small way, we can all make a difference, even if it’s to just one soul. We know that our Lord gives us the graces we need to sustain us in our journey. Whatever trials befall us, our Lord again gives us the graces to overcome them. We need only Trust in His unfathomable love and mercy. Our Lord continually requests St. Faustina the need to proclaim His mercy, a request that extends to all of us as children of God:

“Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God. All the works of My hand are crowned with mercy (Diary 301).

Do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart, and I will fill it with peace (Diary 1074)

Souls who spread the honour of My mercy I shield through their entire life as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Saviour (Diary 1075)

Proclaim to the whole world My unfathomable mercy (Diary 1142).

Tell My priests that hardened sinners will repent on hearing their words when they speak about My unfathomable mercy, about the compassion I have for them in My heart. To priests who proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power; I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak (Diary 1521)”

It is for this reason we continue in our Apostolate, in recalling an old school motto, “Per angusta ad augusta” and remembering St. Paul’s words to the Romans “…the Spirit too comes to help us in our weakness, for, when we do not know how to pray properly, then the Spirit personally makes our petitions for us in groans that cannot be put into words; and he who can see into all hearts knows what the Spirit means because the prayers that the Spirit makes for God’s holy people are always in accordance with the mind of God. (Rm 8:26-27), we walk in Faith and in Trust, not always knowing what awaits round the corner, but knowing our Lord walks with us. And so we echo St. Paul’s prayer to all:

This, then, is what I pray, kneeling before the Father, from whom every fatherhood, in heaven or on earth, takes its name. In the abundance of his glory may he, through his Spirit, enable you to grow firm in power with regard to your inner self, so that Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love, with all God’s holy people you will have the strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the height and the depth; so that, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond knowledge, you may be filled with the utter fullness of God.

Glory be to him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine; glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3: 14-21)
